There is something powerful about a woman who has walked a road returning to show others the way. On March 8, 2026, Tricona School marked International Women’s Day not with flowers or speeches alone — but with something far more lasting: a room full of women who came back.
Under the theme “Gift to Gain,” Trinity College Nabbingo Old Girls’ Association (TCNOGA) ladies returned to their alma mater to give current students something priceless, their stories. Judges, doctors, bankers, lawyers and businesswomen walked through the same gates they once entered as nervous young women, this time carrying decades of experience and the willingness to share it.
A Room Full of Women Who Made It

The hall was filled with energy from the moment the programme began. Students listened attentively as Old Girls from different professional backgrounds took to the floor one after another doctors, lawyers, judges, bankers, businesswomen and public servants each carrying a story that was uniquely their own, yet deeply familiar to every girl in the room.
The speakers spoke frankly about the realities of professional life — the wins, the setbacks, the moments of self-doubt and the decisions that defined their paths. They talked about navigating male-dominated spaces, balancing ambition with family, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who believe in you. It was the kind of conversation that does not happen in textbooks.
Keynote Speaker: Solomy N. Luyombo
The highlight of the day was the keynote address delivered by Solomy N. Luyombo, General Manager Human Resources at Centenary Bank Uganda. A proud Tricona Old Girl, Solomy’s story is one that resonated deeply with everyone in the room.
She spoke with warmth and conviction drawing on her own journey from student life at TRICONA to the boardroom of one of Uganda’s most respected financial institutions. She addressed the pressures young women face today, the importance of intentional career planning, the value of continuous learning, and the non-negotiable role of integrity in professional life.
“The decisions you make today, the habits you build now, the character you choose to develop these are the things that will carry you further than any qualification ever will,” she told the students, her words landing with visible weight in the room.
Her session was met with enthusiastic applause, and students queued afterward to speak with her personally a sign of just how much her words had connected.
The Gift of Coming Back
The theme “Gift to Gain” speaks to a simple but profound truth: that giving back is itself a gain. For the Old Girls who returned, being back at TRICONA was a reminder of where they began. For the students who listened, it was a window into who they could become. Both sides left richer.
TRICONA has always believed that education does not end at the gate. The women who walked back in on March 8th proved exactly that their school shaped them, and now they are shaping what comes next.
