Government Announces Country Wide Closure of Schools for 42 Days

As part of tighter measures to control the spread of the Corona virus, the President of Uganda has ordered for a country wide closure of all schools for 42 days. The president in his address on Sunday 6th June 2021 also reminded teachers to use the break to immunise against the deadly virus as this may be a requirement before interacting with learners again.

According to statistics, the most affected age group in this current wave are the young people, with the 30-39ers who have registered the highest number of cases, followed by the 20-29 age bracket.

Almost 1,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in 43 schools from 22 districts, with Kampala, Gulu, Masaka and Oyam districts topping the list.
